A foundation for a brighter future

At Breakthrough Base of Muhlenberg County, we're dedicated to rebuilding lives and restoring hope. Discover our mission, understand the critical need we address, and learn how we're making a tangible difference for our unhoused and underserved neighbors in Central City, KY.

Our unwavering commitment to restoration

The heart of Breakthrough Base beats for restoration in a time of growing need. Across Kentucky, homelessness has surged by nearly 10% recently, compounded by a statewide shortage of over 200,000 affordable homes. Muhlenberg County is not immune. We were inspired to create a 'Base' – a place where neighbors facing overwhelming odds can find dignity, a hot shower, and professional support to secure housing and legal ID. We believe in providing a 'hand up' today to help reverse these numbers for our community tomorrow.

The 'connective tissue' of support

Many organizations specialize in one area – food, shelter, or job placement. We realized that homelessness is rarely caused by a single factor. What if someone gets a job but lacks a place to shower or clean clothes? Or finds housing but without a State ID, cannot sign a lease? Our uniqueness lies in providing the 'connective tissue' between these vital needs, ensuring no one falls through the cracks of a complex system and empowering them towards true self-sustainability.

Empowering our muhlenberg county neighbors

Breakthrough Base serves unhoused and underserved individuals in Muhlenberg County. We support those in immediate crisis needing emergency shelter or daily essentials, the 'invisible' population without legal documentation hindering housing and jobs, and neighbors seeking a new path through job searches, housing placement, and professional referrals for mental health and substance abuse support. We rely heavily on our community's generosity and active participation to keep our mission alive.

"I can't say enough about the outstanding service I received from Breakthrough Base. Their team went above and beyond to meet our needs and exceeded our expectations."
